"Small town bred, I didn't grow up in the rap hood"
Big city born, small town raised. I was fortunately able to gain insight and perspective on life at an early age inside the walls of my home, before the the city could get me.
To chase a dream is the ultimate game in life to play. Living in time where everything is so moment to moment, so fabricated, so over the top, so unrealistic and short term driven, the attributes of consistency, honesty, and integrity have become the modern day super powers of a new age. Saturated in a world with glitter covered superstars & superheroes, the demand for a Clark Kent and the demand for something real has never been so necessary.
Big city born, small town raised. I was fortunately able to gain insight and perspective on life at an early age inside the walls of my home, before the the city could get me.
Growing up in the 90s, the television programming boom was just beginning and we had full access to the information it spit at us. From MTV, HBO, Nickelodeon, ESPN, ect., our generation was getting to know a different world than the one before us.
Some of my friends and I started making music of our own. We were always creative with everything we did, and also very competitive. It became a game to out-do ourselves and make better beats, write better lyrics, & better songs. Figuring out by trial and error, how to arrange and compile music. This is when I started to feel more passion for music.
After all of the attempts to differentiate each other through social status and the sense of coolness & un-coolness, living in a cookie cutter society we all go through the same emotions and experience a similar walk of life as each other.
Through the years music has been a cornerstone of my life where I could depend on learning about myself and others, and become inspired over and over again through the years to keep a strong head.
Without challenging what was written before us we don't have the chance to refine our society (which is a work in progress). Everything starts as an idea, or a belief with the hopes of controlling or governing people to the best ability until somebody elevates that idea to the next level in search of getting the best answers we can get as people.
Doctors and teachers giving the youth drugs and medication to control kids in the classroom has had an effect on us as adults. Now we rely on all kinds pills to eat, sleep, work, and live.
Whether it be weed, food, alcohol, money, sex, drugs, all of these things are pushed on us as a luxury of our lifestyle and without self control any of these things can become dangerous to a persons life.
Sometimes dreams and plans for your future start to fade away, so we take elements of those skills that were sharpened and use them in other ways when we are forced to take another fork in the road to survive and become successful.
